MP To Hold Public Meeting Next Week

Scilly MP, Andrew George

Scilly’s MP is prepared to answer any questions from islanders in a public meeting next Tuesday. Andrew George says he’s happy to share his views on any issue from a Palestinian free state to what it is like being a backbench coalition MP.

But Andrew says he realises that the ferry service and quay redevelopments may dominate the discussions.

He says he doesn’t expect a hostile crowd despite receiving strong criticism from some locals over his stance on the sea link.

Andrew’s last public forum on the islands was before the general election and the Route Partnership decision.

During the open-floor debate he shared his view that he wasn’t in favour of the Battery Rocks proposal for a freight and passenger terminal in Penzance.

That option was favoured by the islands’ council.

The public meeting will be taking place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4th October in the Council Chamber, Old Wesleyan Chapel, St Mary’s.
