Harvest Festival Auction To Raise Money For Water Charity

Members of St Mary’s Parish Church are auctioning goods to raise cash for water relief in developing countries.

It’s hoped tomorrow’s fundraiser for Water Aid can beat the £300 raised last year.

It’s part of the harvest festival celebration, which will also include a chance to press any apples islanders take to the church pavilion

Sue Hodgson is asking people to bring goods to the church tomorrow and they’ll be auctioned for the charity. They’ll also be adding the Saturday charity shop takings and any cash from the Sunday collection.

Sue says the current drought in East Africa has highlighted the need for clean water and feels that Water Aid is a way for people to help the crisis.

The harvest service will take place at 11.00am tomorrow (Sun).

The auction, taken by Tony Dingley, will be in the garden pavilion at 12.30pm and you can take items to the church today or tomorrow morning.
