Harbour Staff Shooting Safety Film

St Mary's Harbour

Staff at St Mary’s quay are shooting a 90 second information video today, designed to help visiting sailors pick up a mooring in the harbour.

Harbourmaster, Dale Clark says the idea came from the Duchy auditor who had sailing experience and suggested that easy to understand information be offered on harbour procedures.

Dale says there are diagrams on their website on what to do but posting a video there, showing visitors what they can expect to find, would be better. He thinks it’s a first and he’s never come across a video for harbour users elsewhere but he has seen quite a few films on what not-to-do, posted for fun on youtube.

As the largest number of visitors are French yachtsmen, Dale is hoping that they can add subtitles to the footage.

If the film shoot today works well, there will be more advice videos about harbour safety as Dale says it is a non-expensive way of offering real-time information.
