Old Town Playpark Being Considered

Site of proposed play park at Carn Gwaval

A community playpark is being proposed for Old Town.

Resident Eleanor Breen says she wants to consult youngsters over what form it would take.

Eleanor proposes an adventure trail offering different activities for all children from toddlers to teenagers. As a mum of two boys, she says climbing equipment is always popular and thinks the recently erected Porthcressa play area could provide a model for some of the facilities.

Joel Williams of the Council says there have been initial discussions and they haven’t addressed financing yet.

The space being considered is in front of the new Queen Elizabeth sports hall. It housed the old play area and Joel says it’s more of a refresh than something new.

Joel has suggested waiting until the sports centre is up and running before taking the plans further.
