Weather Wrecks Womens’ Gig Racing Plans

The weather has ruined plans for the womens’ invitation gig weekend.

With the low tide approaching and the sea conditions looking as though they were going to deteriorate, organisers decided to call off yesterday’s racing. It was thought to be too dangerous for some rowers as the seas were breaking over the Cow and Bacon Ledges.

The rowers regrouped at the Porthmellon gig sheds and ended up synchronised swimming and arm wrestling.

Selena Thomas told us that, as there were no trophies to award, the women popped a bottle of champagne and toasted absent friends.
