RSPB Event Taking Place On Tresco

Paul St Pierre with Radio Scilly's Lydia Birch

RSPB workers will spend the next two weeks offering visitors and islanders guided walks to point out rare and interesting birds around Tresco.

The charity has set up a display stand at the Abbey Gardens. It also promotes their work with other stakeholders in developing a marine conservation area in the waters around the islands.

RSPB conservation officer for Cornwall, Paul St Pierre, says the idea is to point out common birds that live on the islands and to spread the word about the RSPB conservation work here.

He says there’s also a good chance to see some unusual birds and Paul is hoping that the windier weather may bring in some rarities over the next few days.

Paul will be on Tresco for two week to promote the RSPB conservation work and enthuse visitors about birdwatching.
