Cruise Company Intends To Make Longer Stays In Scilly

MS Island Sky

The Master of a visiting cruise ship says his company has been so impressed by their welcome in Scilly they’re going to bring passengers here for longer stays in 2012.

Torbjan Svenson spoke to Radio Scilly yesterday from on board the cruise ship, Island Sky, and says even the company’s returning passengers are keen to stay for longer so they can visit other islands such as Bryher.

He says the customer service provided by the Tourism Department, Harbour team and boatmen is faultless.

He says the only area where they’ve had problems was during their May visit, when many businesses in St Martin’s closed before the tours had finished, but he says that’s already been resolved.

Their four visits in May and August next year will all be three days long and tours will be arranged to Bryher and St Agnes as well as their usual trips to Tresco and St Mary’s.

The company is intending to bring their new ship, Caledonian Spirit, formerly called the Hebridean Spirit.

The Island Sky will visit May 15-17th, May 23-24th, May 26th and Aug 28th.
