St Martin’s Resident To Participate In Marathon

This year's Scilly Ten race

A local woman who helps organise charity runs on the islands is about to run a half marathon as a participant.

Dawn Bradford is one of the organisers of the Scilly Ten race that brings in cash for the Children’s Hospice South West and entered the Run to the Beat around Greenwich last year, but had to pull out because of an injury.

Now she’s enrolled in this year’s event on Sunday 25th September and hopes to bring in cash for the British Heart Foundation.

Dawn says she wants to undertake the challenge in memory of a St Martin’s resident who died recently. The race has a unique angle, as runners will be entertained by a number of bands around the route. Dawn says she runs around St Martin’s listening to music so that won’t put her off, though she doesn’t think one of her favourites, Muse, will be on the bill.

And Dawn says she’s already picked up some ideas that she may use in the Scilly Ten.

Dawn won’t be the only Scilly entrant – she says Ros Hicks has also signed up.
