Businesses Warned To Look Out For Fake £20 Notes

Fake £20 notes are circulating on St Mary’s.

One was handed over at The Mermaid and bank staffed recognised it as a forgery when it was banked yesterday.

Landlord Ray Brown told us it felt like it had been through a washing machine. There have been reports of other fake notes being used at a cafe out of town.

Isles of Scilly police are warning businesses to check when customers hand over cash and PC Mat Collier says he’d also like people to find appropriate places to spend a penny.

Last night two people were spoken to after relieving themselves next to the Tourist Information Centre.
