Tough PASAB Sailing Race Setting Off Tonight

Last month, members of the Penzance Sailing Club spent two days on the islands as part of the “Penzance to Scilly and Back” sailing weekend.

However tonight, serious club members will race to the islands and back without stopping.

Jean Hall from the club says it’s seen as a tougher challenge and that’s why fewer than 20 sailors, on larger boats, will be taking part.

It takes place every other year because of the gruelling nature of the challenge and this race was the original PASAB event. But Jean says the full weekend event, which took place last month, was added to the calendar for those wanting a less extreme challenge.

The event will be raising money for the RNLI.
