Lifeboats Called To Fastnet Yacht Rescue

Three lifeboats were involved yesterday in the rescue of a yacht taking part in the Fastnet Race, 20 miles north of Scilly.

The St Ives lifeboat launched following a mayday call from the 46ft yacht Inseyandra when she lost her mast.

The lifeboat launched into a strong sea and force 4-5 westerly winds, and reached the stricken vessel in just under two hours later.

The yacht was then towed by the Sennen and Penlee lifeboats to Falmouth for repairs.
