Islander’s Through To Next Round For Olympic Torch Procession

Helen McGuinness, one of the nominees to carry the Olympic Torch

Islanders who have been nominated to carry the Olympic Torch next year have made it to the next stage in the nomination process.

Lewis Johnson and Nathan Street are now in the final 28,000 and have a 1 in 14 chance of being selected to carry the torch from Land’s End to London. 6000 representatives from the corporate sponsors of the games will also carry the torch.

Also through is Helen McGuinness, who was nominated by her colleagues in appreciation for all the work she does to support children and young people, often outside normal work hours.

They’ll have to wait until early December to hear if any of them make the final selection.
