Lifeboat Called To Missing Kayakers

Report by Steve Watt

The St Mary’s lifeboat was called out yesterday evening following a report that three kayakers were missing between St Martin’s and Bar Point on St Mary’s.

Falmouth Coastguard requested the lifeboat, skippered by 2nd Coxswain Peter Hicks, to start searching along the north shore of St Mary’s.

St Mary’s Coastguard team also asked the departing BIH helicopter to observe the area.

However, all three were found safe and well. They had left their kayaks on the beach at St Martin’s and returned to St Mary’s by tripper boat.
