Local Business Rebuilds Website For Mobile Users

New technology has forced a St Martin’s company to completely rebuild their website for the third time in 15 years.

And it’s a warning to other islands’ businesses that their on-line presence may not have what it takes to meet the needs of mobile users.

Zoe Julian told us that, while the old site looked fine, they have had to start all over again and rebuild it from the ground up, so users of mobile devices, such as iPhones and iPads, get a better experience.

Zoe says the company doesn’t make changes for the sake of it but they have made a lot of research into what needs changing.

She says their customers come from a wide age range and many of them want the convenience of shopping using their mobiles.

She added that they had to fund the new site themselves – some of the local grant schemes like LAG cannot give cash to agricultural businesses like theirs.
