Methodist Group Running Maze Event On Beach

A Christian group is encouraging islanders and visitors to identify and deal with problems in their lives by walking a maze cut into the sand on Porthcressa beach.

For the second day, the mainland group will encourage people to carry a symbolic piece of rubbish and walk with it through the labyrinth, placing it in the middle of the pattern.

Chairman of the Cornwall Methodist District, Steve Wild, will join the group on the beach today.

Andy, who has come over from Cornwall to lead the exercise, says says the idea of using labyrinths in religion has made a comeback in recent years. He told us it takes about an hour and a half to build the maze and, of course, they have to do it each day because of the tides.
