LEP Receives Funding To Spread It’s Message

The Local Enterprise Partnership, or LEP, a joint public and private sector body that will replace some of the roles of the Southwest Regional Development Agency in Scilly and Cornwall has been given £76,000 by Central Government.

The cash will be used to spread the message about the organisation, which will assume some economic strategy responsibilities next April.

Mark Prisk, the Minister for Business and Enterprise who met with Scilly business people in 2009, announced the funding on a visit to Cornwall’s County Hall.

Philip Hygate, Chief Executive of the Council of the Isles of Scilly, represents our authority on the board of the organisation. LEP Chairman, Chris Pomfret, said the cash will enable the partnership to obtain the views of all types of businesses and shape their priorities.

The LEP will now hold a workshop to clarify how to take this feedback exercise forward.
