Buzza Bus Returning To Mainland For Repairs

The troubled electric Buzza Bus will be off the road for between four to six weeks as mainland  experts try and establish why it keeps breaking down.

Age Concern, who operate the elderly and disabled residents dial-a-ride bus service on behalf of the Council, are going to provide a spare diesel vehicle.

The Local Action Group that funded the bus insisted on a sustainable model that worked off rechargeable batteries, but following initial delays caused in modifying the Peugeot, the vehicle has been plagued by technical difficulties.

The service has proved popular amongst eligible users.

Last night Councillors were keen to reassure residents that the service would continue. Amy Hiron said that after seven months of operation, a pattern of use had been established and some changes to the timetable were needed. There would be additional cover on a Tuesday afternoon and a likely reduction in some Saturday hours, when the bus wasn’t so busy.

All of the service users and drivers will be contacted.
