School Makes Good Schools Guide Awards Again

The Five Islands School has featured twice in this year’s Good Schools Guide Awards.

The school won awards for both boys’ and girls’ results at GSCE in Design & Technology. The classes are held by Liz Turner, and this is the third year in a row that the results have been singled out for an award.

Headteacher of the Five Islands School, Bryce Wilby says it’s a remarkable achievement for the school and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and pupils.

Today’s Design & Technology classes aren’t like woodwork or metalwork that older islanders may have studied. Pupils have to design, make and then think how they would market their ideas and Bryce says this is good training for the entrepreneurs of the future.
