Last Few Places Available On Water Safety Course

The last few places are available for a four-week water safety project based around the beaches, which starts next Thursday.

Tess Lloyd from Normandy swimming pool says if you want to get on the course, you’ll need to move fast.

It’s called “In, On and Around Water” and will be similar to the Water Safety Week delivered last year but running from 9.30am to 4.30pm on two days.

Tess says children aged over 8 years, or youngsters aged 7 who bring their parents, can learn about water safety including wind and tides, sea swimming, windsurfing and kayaking.

The project is being delivered by Normandy swimming pool staff and is supported financially by the Community Safety Partnership and Children’s Services. The police are also assisting by providing a member of staff.

There are 24 members of Portreath Surf Lifesaving Club coming along with their famous lifesaving dog, Bilbo, for the sessions at the Sailing Centre and if locals don’t apply by next week, they’ll be offered to visitors.
