Five Islands School PTA Looking For New Members

Old primary school at Carn Gwavel

The Five Islands School Parents and Teachers Association is looking for new members for the committee.

A number of key volunteers, including the Chairman Helen Glenn, will resign their roles in September when the new school building opens.

Helen says she’s enjoyed the role and it’s a great way to meet new people adding that the school really appreciates the input from the PTA as well.

But after nine years she thinks it’s time to move on.

Helen told us the thing she’s proudest of during her time in the PTA is starting the year 6 leavers party, which she says, marks an important milestone for the children and something the PTA wanted to make it more memorable.

She’d love to see it carry on in the future.

But she added that it’s important to get new ideas into the group.

The PTA meet, on average, every two months to raise cash for projects that enhance learning or for school experiences like trips or specialist software.
