New Community Sports Area Opens On Bryher

A new multi-use games area or ‘muga’ was opened on Bryher last night.

It was a joint project between the Council Community Services, Tresco Estate, Bryher Community Centre and the Local Action Group (LAG).

The LAG provided a significant contribution to the funding of the project, but Amanda Pender, Bryher resident and manager of the LAG, says they also helped with direction and project development, working very closely with the Community Centre.

Amanda says she’s delighted to see the scheme come to fruition and applauded the local community for all their hard work they put in to the project.

The muga was designed with tennis players in mind, but is also suitable for other sports such as football, netball and basketball. Anyone aged under 18 can use the facility for free.
