Brewery Launches Search For Best Pub Singer

The Atlantic Inn in Hugh Town

Could you be the next Bone Idol?

St Austell Brewery is launching a nationwide search for the UK’s best pub singers in a karaoke-style competition.

The pub chain, who have premises across the South West, want videos of people performing the traditional pub song ‘Little Eyes’. The best performance will win a gig by Cornish sea shanty group, Fisherman’s Friends, in their local pub.

Here on the islands, the brewery owns the Atlantic Inn and the Bishop and Wolf.

Fisherman’s Friends, the Port Isaac-based 10-member group, signed for Universal Music during 2010 and were featured in an hour-long ITV1 documentary. They performed with Scilly’s own sea shanty singers at the Royal Cornwall Show this year.

The brewery is hosting the original and karaoke-friendly versions of the song on its website along with full entry details. Entries must be in by 31st October.
