School To Be Used As Citizenship Role Model By Ofsted

Headteacher of the Five Islands School, Bryce Wilby

Last week’s Ofsted inspection of the Five Islands School for their citizenship and community cohesion has brought results beyond expectations according to the school headteacher, Bryce Wilby.

The government’s school standards agency rated the school as ‘Outstanding’ for the work that pupils undertake outside of school, such as the environmental work and beach cleaning by the school Green Team or working with emergency services in 999 Week.

The lead Ofsted inspector says it is the best practise she has ever seen and they want to use the school as a role model for the rest of the country.

Bryce said this is a very nice end to the school year and has told the staff that ‘it doesn’t get much better than that.’

He added it’s a testament to the hard work of the pupils, staff and the local community.
