Bryher Resident Offering Qigong Exercise Sessions

Suzanne Lea

A new resident to Bryher is offering islanders a chance to experience an alternative form of exercise to improve wellbeing.

Suzanne Lea says Qigong isn’t accepted by everyone in Western Medicine but has a strong following in China, where groups of people often get together in local parks to exercise.

People who have seen sessions often say it looks like Tai Chi.

Suzanne says it is based on the flow on energy in the body and combines breathing exercises with physical and mental training. She says it’s suitable for old and young alike and is a very gentle way to get your body ‘back into gear.’

Suzanne thinks she’s the first practitioner here and will be holding weekly group or personal sessions.

Sessions start on Wednesday at St Mary’s Hall Hotel.
