‘Encouraging Progress’ With Penzance Harbour Plans

Penzance Harbour

MP Andrew George, says there has been ‘encouraging progress’ in plans to develop the Penzance harbour.

Twenty-five people attended a meeting to discuss proposals on Friday night.

The Steamship Company, Penzance Town Council and the Penzance Chamber of Commerce heard about plans to get a bid ready for European Convergence Funding before the New Year.

We understand that the group is hoping to secure a budget of around £40,000 to refine the plans and make a funding application. That’s viewed as a low amount, according to some experts in project development.

But they are relying on volunteers.

The boss of the former Penwith Council, Jim McKenna, has been working on the brief.

The Department for Transport has said we won’t get funding for St Mary’s Quay until the mainland side of the link is ready to fund.
