Rory Guy Is Youngest Ever Winner Of Scilly Golf Championship

A new name will be engraved on the Wilkinson Sword Trophy this year as the winner of the Isles of Scilly Golf Club’s Amateur Championship.

Rory Guy, just 14 years old, is the youngest ever golfer to win since the Club was formed 107 years ago.

He has the honour of being Club Champion with a score over the two weeks of 160.

The next big tournament for young Rory will be playing for Cornwall against Wiltshire in early August at the championship course of Burnham and Berrow in Somerset.

In 2nd place was a previous winner Steve Douglas, three shots further back, and in 3rd place was the player who’s won it for several years in succession, Mark Twynham, with a score of 168.

As for the Ladies’ Championship, from just four entries, the winner was Sue Bennetts with a score of 193.

The winner of the Brushfield Trophy for the lowest handicap score over the two weeks was Dave Chodkiewicz with a net score of 162.
