Scilly Ten Run Raises Over £2500 for Precious Lives Appeal

Start of this year's race

Runners who took part in this year’s Scilly Ten have raised £2,626 for the Cornwall Precious Lives Appeal.

The event in April attracted more than one hundred runners and included special races for primary and secondary school children from the islands.

There were two 5-mile laps of St Mary’s for teams or individuals, and a separate 2.5 km course for primary school children.

Children from the Five Islands School presented a cheque to the Precious Lives Appeal on Friday.

Dawn Bradford from the Scilly Ten Committee said the team look forward to repeating this success again next year.

Next year’s event will be on Sunday 8th April and may be held on one of the off-islands.

The Scilly Ten is one of a programme of events organised by the Isles of Scilly Friends of the Children’s Hospice South West.

Fundraising events are held throughout the summer, including evening concerts and sponsored guided tours hosted by Chairman of the Friends, George Teideman, to raise money for the new hospice being built in St Austell.

Last year’s fundraising efforts raised £15,000 and George thanked everyone who took part.
