Yacht Runs Aground Off Tean Sands

St Martin's Hotel quay, near the scene of the incident

The St Mary’s lifeboat was put on standby yesterday afternoon after a yacht ran aground on rocks off Pednbean Brow near Tean Sands.

The Falmouth Coast Guard alerted the St Martin’s Coastguard volunteers at around 12.45pm when they had a call from the two people on board the yacht.

The lifeboat wasn’t launched in the end as the St Martin’s boat, The Lightning, managed to get her off the rocks and onto a mooring near the hotel.

The Lightning skipper, Terry Perkins, says he was only 200 meters away at the time.

Diver Tim Allsop checked for damage but there were just scratches.
