Delayed Bryher Beat Sailing Race will Take Place Tomorrow

A sailing competition called off two weeks ago because of bad weather is set to take place tomorrow.

The Bryher Beat (see here) is a new 90 minute race from St Mary’s quay to the island with all proceeds going to the Junior Sailing Fund.

Richard Smith was keen to tell us it’s not a “serious” race so potential entrants shouldn’t be put off. He also said the wind and weather forecast is good, so should be ideal for all sailors and a great family day out.

The event is open to both islanders and visitors. Applications forms can be picked up at The Pilchard Pit on the quay, Richard Mills’ Sailing Centre at Porthmellon Beach and at Sibleys Filling Station and should be returned by 5.30pm on Saturday.

Any late entries should contact either Richard Smith or Ian Sibley.
