Tresco Cider Festival Starts Today

Tresco is holding a Cider Festival this weekend.

Almost fifty ciders have been brought over to the island as part of the festival, now in it’s third year, at the New Inn.

Landlord, Robin Lawson, told us cider is surprisingly popular and this year they have a big selection to choose from, including the traditional apple ciders, but also perries and more unusual fruit ciders.

And they’re not just from the traditional cider areas of the Westcountry – he has a couple from Sweden and even one from South Africa.

The strongest is 8.4% but he says the most peculiar is a blue fruit cider from St Helier!

Music will be provided by a Cornish band who cover well known songs in a ‘Hill-billy’ style – Robin first met one of the band members when he was working at the Tresco School, and he says their music will be great fun and perfect for the cider festival crowd.
