Harbourmaster Meeting Quay Workers To Talk About Safety

St Mary's Harbourmaster, Dale Clark

St Mary’s harbourmaster has been meeting with people who deal with freight on off-island quays to talk with about safety.

Dale Clark says there hasn’t been an injury reported in recent memory and he wants to make sure that record remains without blemish.

He has written to people who collect freight and off-island Councillors to arrange personal visits.

He says some people were initially concerned that he would increase regulation and red tape but he says he’d rather keep things as they are. All users need to cover themselves and he has been encouraging people to segregate passengers and freight and the use of personal protection gear like high visibility jackets and work boots on the quay.

After a trip to Bryher on Tuesday and St Agnes yesterday, Dale’s final sessions are on St Martin’s this afternoon.
