Headteacher Says Some Staff Will Join Strike Today

A handful of staff at the Five Islands School are expected to join the national day of action today in support of their colleagues on the mainland.

However Headteacher Bryce Wilby says it’s business as usual and pupils should not experience significant disruption.

Bryce said he’s expecting 4 or 5 staff members to join the strike, adding those involved have given plenty of notice of their intentions and the school has sufficient contingency plans in place to maintain normal operations.

And he says the school will use this as an opportunity to raise the students’ political awareness by helping them to understand what is happening and why.
