School Governors Exploring Demand For Breakfast Club

Five Islands School at Carn Thomas

Parents who want to get to work early may soon have child care facilities from first thing in the morning.

That’s if the community believes there is demands for a breakfast and after school club.

The school governors are canvassing opinion on wraparound child care and a survey will assess demand for an 8 am breakfast service.

The governors will have the final say on whether the facility begins, who runs it and on what basis.

It could be a project run by the school or could be offered out as a tender – a parent has approached the school to gauge whether there is interest for a commercial operation.

However, some parents have made negative comments to governors about the proposal, suggesting that it is parents’ responsibility to provide the morning meal for their children.
