Sailing Club Adds New Race To Their Diary

Richard Smith from the Sailing Club

The Sailing Club are adding a new challenge to their club calendar.

The Bryher Beat will encourage islanders and visitors to race from St Mary’s and raise money for the Shelterbox appeal.

Richard Smith, who is helping to organise the event, says they’re hoping to make it into a regular race, adding to the two other longer races of the season, the Tresco Tack and the Round Island Race.

Course will take people roughly around the same route as the Tresco Tack, but finishing instead on Bryher.

The race will be from St Mary’s to Bryher only, and should take less than two hours, allowing competitors to have lunch and make their own way back.

The exact course will be decided on the day depending on the wind.
