Busy Week For Masons

One of the islands’ senior Masons says it’s been a busy and significant week for lodge members and their partners.

George Teideman said around 50 people came over for two events last week.

On Wednesday, the Mark Masons, who are based in Penzance, attended with their provincial Grand Master.

George says it’s meant to be a one-off occasion but the hope is that they’ll return.

And on Thursday there was a special meeting of the Scillonian Chapter, which started four years ago, with many of the visitors staying on for that.

Over the two days, visitors and locals went for lunch at the Mermaid and travelled to St Martin’s for dinner.

George says such a large number of visitors helps fill hotel rooms, adding to the local economy and is generally good for Scilly tourism.
