Places Still Left On Argyle Training Camp

Islands’ youngsters will be able to develop their football skills with help from the professionals this weekend.

A group from Plymouth Argyle are coming over to provide coaching to 55 local young players.

The group will play football on the multi-use games area on St Agnes on Friday and full coaching starts on Saturday.

Helen Glenn of the Five Islands School football club says there’s still five places available to youngsters who want to learn how to play better.

The ongoing relationship between island kids and the visiting football experts, who’ve been coming over for 3 years, is set to continue. Helen says the coaching and training arm of the financially troubled club is run as a separate charity.

This means the current financial problems and uncertainty over who is buying Argyll won’t impact on the coaches’ relationship with our youngsters now or in the future.

Last year it was awarded a FA Charter standard by the Cornish Association in recognition of the standard of training and the effort put in by volunteers in arranging mainland coaching trips to Home Park.
