Irish Sailing Club Planning Rally To Scilly

A sailing club based in Southern Ireland is planning to send a flotilla of yachts to Scilly.

Waterford Harbour Sailing Club wants to teach members about off-shore sailing and encourage them to be ambassadors for Ireland to other yachtsmen.

They’re using a format called a ‘crusing company’ that encourages sailors who normally hug the coast to go off shore, but in the safety of a flotilla – they will have 12 yachts involved with around 40 people on board

Rene Wubben from the club told us that, when planning the trip, they looked for the nicest destination they could fine which would involve overnight sailing and going to different country, and Scilly came out as the top choice.

And Rene has requested help from locals with questions and locations for a treasure hunt they’re planning once they’re over here. The group will be here from 18th-20th June.
