St Mary’s Pocket Guide Nominated For Design Award

The new pocket guide

A new pocket map  of St Mary’s, designed for cruise ship passengers, has been put forward for a design award.

The TIC and AONB commissioned Kaydee Torbet to design it and the new folding guide has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Most Creative Design Category of the Pocket Media Awards 2011.

Kaydee says it was a lot of fun to design and she’s please with the way it’s turned out.

She wanted to showcase what people could do on the island in a day, but also wanted it to be ‘souvenir-like’ to remind passengers of their visit.

Kaydee, who works in the Economic Development department of the council, has a background in fine arts and graphics and says it’s been good to rediscover her creative side.

She added they’re up against a bus promotion company and South Ayrshire Council in the best use of pocket guides.
