Not Too Late To Include Scilly In Olympics Torch Relay

The joint Chairman of Island Tourism says he’s hopeful that plans to start the Olympic torch procession on May 19th next year from Land’s End can be changed so our islands can be included in the itinerary.

Around 200 residents have joined a Facebook campaign setup by Euan Rodger.

When the announcement of the route was made we were contacted by people upset that organisers were claiming UK islands would feature as part of the 70-day relay, but Scilly had been overlooked, whereas the Shetlands, Jersey and Guernsey are all taking part.

Euan says he doesn’t believe the schedule is impossible to change and potentially the itinerary could be brought forward a day to include Scilly.
