Scilly To Feature For A Week On BBC One Show

Tourism in Scilly could get a boost from a series of five nightly TV features.

The features about Scilly will be broadcast on The One Show on BBC One from 4th July.

Bristol-based Tigress Productions completed their week-long filming schedule on Saturday.

The crew has relied on local knowledge and experience including using islands-based filmmaker Robin Burrows and the IOS  Wildlife Trust’s Jaclyn Pearson in a quest to find the Scilly shrew and Scilly bee.

They’ve also followed a couple from Sussex on holiday in Scilly.

Specialist wildlife presenters, Mike Dilger and Miranda Krestovnikoff have recorded reports at the Bishop Rock lighthouse and have taken the holidaymakers snorkeling and shark fishing.

The film crew have also been to St Agnes and the Tresco Abbey Gardens.

The programme regularly attracts audiences of 4.75 million people, more than double that of ‘An Island Parish’ which is thought to have been beneficial to tourism here.
