Yacht Grounded In Porthcressa Bay

St Mary’s lifeboat was launched just before 8am this morning after a resident of Porthcressa Road noticed a vesssel in apparent distress in the bay.

A 30ft white yacht, The Nossie, ran aground on The Brow an hour after the 7am high tide. Eyewitnesses told us that the vessel was listing 15 degrees.

Initially it was thought that two crew were on board but lifeboat members confirmed that it was a solo French sailor in the vessel.

It will staying in Porthcressa bay today.

The opeartion ended at around 8.25am
