Cricket – St Mary’s Beat St Martin’s In T20 Match

Report from Colin Daly

On 2nd June, after a beautiful, sunny and warm day, the evening became cloudy and colder but the T20 match between St. Martin’s and St. Mary’s went ahead at 5.45 pm undeterred by this.

St. Martin’s won the toss and decided to bat first.

Only Joe Morton and captain Barney Maclachlan tested the scorers in their use of double figures with 27 and 17 not out respectively, and they were all out for 95.

This never looked enough to seriously challenge St. Mary’s although the home team were encouraged by claiming two wickets early on.

Then captain James Francis came to the crease and he scored 46 not out, supported by Wright on 23 not out.

St. Mary’s reached the required total in the fourteenth over and both teams retired to a warmer place.
