Museum Flats To Get New Balconies

Museum flats isn’t the most attractive building in town but new balcony railings should make it look better, Councillors have heard.

The Council want to replace the rotten wood with UPVC-clad, galvanised metal railings.

Chief Planning Officer Craig Dryden has concerns with the plans and wants a more natural material to be used.

So neighbours will be consulted on what would look best.

The Council can only deal with the flats it owns and two at the end are in private ownership. One has already been clad without permission and Councillor Richard McCarthy felt they may not achieve a uniform look.

However Gaz O’Neil recognised that it wasn’t an ideal situation but anything that makes Museum Flats look better would get his backing.
