New Water Storage Tanks For St Agnes

Existing water tanks in Middle Town

St Agnes is getting a more secure water supply.

An application to replace four storage tanks in Middle Town with one larger tamperproof tank has been approved.

It will be be insulated so the water won’t warm up.

Most of the current plastic tanks have been there since 2004 and the replacement will be larger, measuring 6m x 3m and will stand 2.6m high.

Councillors approved the application even though they don’t know what the new tank will be made off – details were omitted from the planning meeting documentation, but members decided to back it because they trusted that the experts advising the Duchy would suggest the best possible material.

Councillor John Goddard alleged that the tanks were being replaced as the current ones were problematic and not suitable for drinking water.
