Preparations Hotting Up For Bank Holiday Family Funday

Final preparations are underway for the Rotary Club’s main fundraiser of the year – the Bank Holiday Monday Family Funday on Holgate’s Green.

The event has developed from the former carnival and will feature a beer tent, barbecue and a number of games and activities to help the organisation bring in cash for Shelterbox and other initiatives.

There’s a new retro 70s event this year- a spacehopper race on the beach.

Richard Chiverton’s chickens will be back for the chicken racing where you pick a bird and encourage it forward to the line, by offering feed.

Tim Guthrie from the Rotary Club hopes that there’ll be take-up for the tug of war after last year’s poor response.

Tim says the events on the Green will work in tandem with activities at the Scillonian Club, such as the evening Family Fortunes Challenge, especially if the weather is bad.
