Choralists Share Skills With Agnes Pupils

Canon Peter Walker

Five choralists who have taken a gap year to perfect their vocal abilities at Truro Cathedral will be sharing their skills with island youngsters today.

The group will also be treating visitors and residents of all ages to a performance at the Parish church.

The 19 year olds are coming over on the helicopter to work with some St Agnes school base pupils as part of the Sing-Up initiative.

That project, which also encouraged singing in the school through the Scilly Sirens female choir is funding the trip.

Then this afternoon they’ll work with Year Seven and Eight pupils in school on St Mary’s.

This evening’s free concert at 8.15pm will feature pop classics from the Beatles to Simon and Garfunkel powerfully performed with close knit harmonies.

Canon Peter Walker says their voices usually bring a strong reaction.
