NHS Urges Public To Be Wary Of Bogus Caller

Health bosses in Scilly  and Cornwall are warning islanders not to be fooled by cold callers who claim to have obtained information from the NHS and want to sell them a product or service.

A member of the public received a phone call from a claims handling firm offering hearing tests so that people can make industrial injury claims.

The complainant says the caller told him he had got his information from the NHS.

Bev Gallagher, Head of Information Governance for the Corwall and Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust, said, “We have been made aware of other companies often trying to sell items such as homeopathic remedies, blood pressure monitors, diabetes monitors and herbal tablets. When challenged by us, they always deny saying they have obtained information from the NHS.”
