Cricket: St Mary’s Beat St Martin’s In Narrow Victory

St Mary’s beat St Martin’s by 2 runs in a narrow victory on Thursday evening.

St Martin’s won the toss and put St Mary’s into bat.

Mark Twynham opened up with 21. Mark ‘Pixie’ Hicks steadied the middle of the game with 42 and with Brad Hawker keeping him company scoring 24.

The wickets were shared one a piece for the St Martin’s bowlers with one run out.

St Mary’s eventually scored 136 for 7 off 20 overs.

St Martin’s came into bat losing their first wicket to a direct hit for a run out.

Craig Samuel top scored the match and was partnered with Chris Hinds, scoring 59 and 32 respectively, and until they both fell in the penultimate over, it looked like a St Martin’s win!

The game was eventually won in the last over with St Martin’s needing four off the last ball to tie.

St Mary’s won by 2 runs with St Martin’s on 134 for 6, Joe Badcock taking 2 for 17.
