Homeworking Could Provide Out Of Season Employment

Council staff have met with the boss of a company who wants to encourage islanders to work from home, providing call centre-type services for a number of well-known clients.

Dickon Moon of Arise, calls the concept ‘homesourcing’. The company is keen to take on people who have computers and broadband access to work flexible shifts, handling queries from home.

Julian Pearce of the Council’s economic development units met with Dickon who has spent some time in the islands through his other role as director of rugby for London Cornish.

Julian says he thinks it could provide work out of season for islanders and with the new, superfast broadband coming for next year people could really take advantage of home working.
