Busy Week For Cruise Ships

MS Island Sky

It’s been a busy weekend for cruise ships but they have been smaller vessels.

The National Geographic Explorer took passengers to Tresco on Saturday.

Yesterday, the Island Sky moored in the Tresco Channel for a two day stay en route from Portsmouth with 94 passengers on board. Today, she’ll take passengers to  St Martins.

We’ve also got the ship formerly known as The Prince Albert visiting from 1pm today with 101 tourists on a cruise. She was impounded by coastguard bosses in Portsmouth around this time last year when crew staffing records appeared to show overworking and she was found to be overladen. She has since been rebranded the Silver Explorer.

Next weekend will also be busy. St Mary’s Harbourmaster Dale Clark says there will be three visiting boats including the Marco Polo which usually has around 700 people on board.
